The Bosch 36618-02 18 is powered by lithium ion-batteries that were created using Bosch’s ECP system and technology. The charge time is 30 minutes, though at 15 minutes it will be 85% capacity. Top level speed is 1,600 RPM, and the torque is 500 in./lbs. Durashield housing provides added protection, and is able to withstand 10-foot drops as well as debris, dirt, rain, and temperature extremes. Also featured is a single-sleeve 1/2 inch chuck with one-handed bit changes, variable speed, and 20 clutch settings. Included in the package is a drill/driver, two lithium ion batteries, charger, double-ended bit, and a carrying case.
Pros
The Bosch 36618-02 is very lightweight, compact, powerful quiet, and smooth. It’s designed for light to heavy work. It has enough finesse to drive small screws slowly, but enough power to drill concrete, 1″ holes in 2×4′s, and handle rough carpentry and drywall. The power may not stand up to a corded drill, it’s still very impressive especially when you consider how light it is.
The LED light comes in handy, and has a ton of speeds to work with. The single collar chuck makes changing bits easier. The ratcheting lock ensures that the bit will stay tight.
The handling is balanced and comfortable even when using for long periods. The 30 minute charge time is a plus, as having two batteries to use. The drill won’t slow down as the batteries begin to drain, which means you can work at the way through until it’s time for it to be charged.
Cons
The bit holder is very ineffective and it doesn’t come with a belt hook. The two slim batteries don’t have the longest run time.
Summary
Light and powerful, this is one drill that you can’t go wrong with. It’s highly versatile and only has a few minor issues that really have no affect on performance.
